Rates
Virtual Assistants
(VAs) generally charge by the hour, anywhere from $25-75, depending upon
the expertise required and type of work performed. For example, copy
typing would be estimated at the low end of this scale, whereas web
design would be found at the high end. Statistics show
that employees actually cost 2 to 2 1/2 times their rate of pay when one
adds in all the “hidden costs” associated with adding a new employee to
the payroll:
-
hiring (may include advertising, recruiting, interviewing/assessing,
recruiter’s own time, and redoing it all over again if the person
doesn’t work out)
-
training (may involve expensive seminars or training sessions and also
a “ramp-up” period)
-
setting up payroll
-
government taxes
-
base
salary
-
bonuses
-
profit sharing or RRSP contribution
-
yearly cost of living increase
-
benefits
-
mandatory insurance
-
space
-
office equipment/furniture.
Once you take all
these expenses into account, it’s obvious that you are SAVING money in
the long run. Once you have established a working relationship with a
VA, you know you can call on her once a week or once a month, as your
needs arise. What an advantage over hiring an employee!
